Terms of Use
Effective October 12, 2026
The short version: Spotter helps you track and plan your training. It isn't medical advice. Listen to your body, train within your limits, and talk to a doctor before starting a new exercise program.
Who we are
Spotter is made by Brent Samaha, an independent developer in the United States ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].
Using Spotter
Spotter is licensed to you under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, together with these terms. By using Spotter you agree to both. If they conflict, Apple's agreement wins.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Spotter. If you're under 18, use it with a parent or guardian's permission.
Not medical advice
Spotter's suggestions for weights, reps, rest and training balance come from general exercise research and from what you've logged. They aren't medical, fitness or health advice. Spotter isn't a medical device and doesn't diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. It can't account for your injuries, health conditions or how you feel on a given day.
- Check with a doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are recovering from an injury.
- Stop exercising if you feel pain, dizziness, chest pain or shortness of breath, and seek medical help if needed.
- Use proper form and safety equipment, and a human spotter for heavy lifts.
Your responsibility
Strength training carries a risk of injury. You decide what you lift and how you train, and you accept the risks of exercising, whether or not you follow Spotter's suggestions.
Your data
Your workouts are stored on your device. You're responsible for keeping backups, for example with iCloud Backup or Spotter's export. See the Privacy Policy for details.
No warranty
Spotter is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We work hard to keep it accurate and reliable, but we can't promise it will be error-free, uninterrupted or right for your goals.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, injury or loss of data arising from your use of Spotter or from following its suggestions. Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a part of these terms doesn't mean we waive it.
Changes
We may update these terms as Spotter changes. We'll change the effective date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Spotter after an update means you accept the new terms.
